Osmo Finishes

Osmo Finishes & Coatings

Osmo is an Oil and Wax based finishing system. It protects the wood from the inside, does not form a film and yet forms a protective, microporous surface. The main advantages of Osmo are:

  • The finish penetrates deeply into wood and protects the surface

  • Enhances the natural wood colour

  • Spot repairs can be carried out easily

  • Will not crack, flake or peel

  • Great liquid resistance

  • Easy to maintain

Evostyle has been using different finishes for our solid wood furniture and products for many years. We have found that German made OSMO finishes are the best for a number of reasons:

Simple Application & maintenance

The Osmo coating system is a seamless application, which is possible on large areas - from table tops to complete timber floors. As an oil based finish, it adheres without any primer required. Thin coats are sufficient, so a small amount of the product goes a long way. Thanks to high solid content in the coating, any slight blemishes are hidden after coating. There are also no brushstrokes thanks to the long drying time.

Osmo Hardwax Oil produces a surface which will not watermark or stain easily like a traditional oiled finish. If damage occurs, surfaces can be partially renovated, and unlike conventional lacquers, sanding of the whole area is not required. Osmo comes with an easy maintenance system. We supply a can of the Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner with all our furniture (included in the cost).

Natural Ingredients

All Osmo wood finishes are based on oils and waxes: sunflower oil, carnauba and candelilla waxes, linseed, soya and thistle oils, which are purified, renewable plant raw materials. So it is a natural, environmentally friendly and safe coating suitable for the food industry and childrens toys. The binding agents in Osmo wood finishes are based on natural plant oils, which deeply penetrate wood and protect it from the inside.

Osmo lets the timber speak for itself

Osmo coating systems brings out the colour and grain of the timber with a very natural appearance. No yellowing. Because Osmo penetrates the timber and forms a very thin surface coating, it is not visible itself, unlike thick water based and polyurethane coatings.

excellent protection for the timber

The combination of oils and waxes, and the special way the oils are processed to reduce the particle size, means that a very thin coat forms a very waterproof and durable surface. Full hardness does take time and it is best to take extra care of the finish over the first few months of use.

Very High Coverage - small amounts of product goes a long way

Osmo products are concentrated to minimise use of solvents, make application quicker and reduce transport costs. The unusually high coverage has been verified on Australian timbers.
